Using the password selfservice portal you can change your password
Follow the shortcut from the desktop and login with AD credentials. Then choose the change password option.
If you are doing this from outside the office you MUST be connected to the VPN first. If not connected communication between the Domain controllers will not be possible and the cached credentials on the laptop will fail to update
